Welcome to the lessons of 2012.
For the past four months we have studied everything from the bag, to the reeds, to blowing and the use of the tuning meter. Your pipe should now be in tip top shape. As most pipers play in bands, this coming year we will concentrate on band music - sets of tunes - tunes common to all bands, from the parade band to the concert and competitive band. We will take a close look at technique and rhythm with the hopes of improving the skill level of every band player. If we are successful, your bands will improve as well. So often, in a band you are expected to understand how and what to learn. Music is handed out and you are left to randomly fend for yourself. These sessions hopefully will take the guess work out of the process and establish a firm method for all band players.... I hope you enjoy the next few months....all the best for 2012...The Captain
(you must register with the Captain) The Piobaireachd Classroom is now open for registered users. The Room is designed for those players who would like to begin a study of piobaireachd - technique and structure. If you feel that you would like to enter this room for further study, please contact the Captain.
The Student Forum is now open for business. This blog styled room is for the interchange of ideas, discussion of technique, pulsing, phrasing, problems you might be having with your piping, answers to music searches - questions that are not covered in the lessons - arguments - just about anything you wish to discuss openly with fellow subscribers or the piping public. It also serves as a quick access to the Captain. So use it often and enjoy...
